The holiday season is here, and what better way to make it extra special for your little ones than with a super easy and fun craft project?
DIY piñatas are easier to make than you might think! I even made ice cream cone piñatas with a class of 3rd graders a few years ago.
You can make mini piñatas in all sizes and shapes for your next party. Small, individual sizes make great party favors or classroom gifts. This tutorial will walk you through creating individual-sized Christmas tree piñatas.
- Crepe Paper Streamers
- Mini Pom Poms
- Star Stickers
- Clear Tape
- Card Stock
- Free Printable Cone Pattern
Step 1: Make the Cone
Start by printing this cone pattern on card stock and carefully cutting it out. Use clear tape along the dotted lines to form a cone shape. This will be the base for your Christmas Tree Piñata.
Step 2: Fill with Candy
Add surprises to your piñata by filling the cone with candy, stickers, or any other treats.
Step 3: Cover the Bottom with 6″ Streamers
Cut four 6″ streamers and attach them to the bottom of the cone using tape. This not only adds a decorative touch but also secures the candy inside the cone.
Step 4: Cut Strips of Streamer and Fold in Half
Prepare 12″ strips of crepe paper streamers and fold each strip in half horizontally. This will create the fringe that will turn your cone into a piñata.
Step 5: Cut Fringe
Carefully snip the streamers about halfway up the folded side. Don't cut all the way through your streamer.
Step 6: Wrap Fringe Around the Cone
Take the fringed strips and tape them around the cone, starting from the bottom and working your way to the top.
Optional: Add Star and Pom Poms
You can finish the piñata by attaching star stickers, mini pom poms, or any other stickers. Get creative and decorate your tree to make it uniquely yours.
Just like that you've successfully crafted a DIY Christmas Tree Piñata! These make great party favors or classroom treats for your holiday parties. Have fun crafting these easy-to-make piñatas!
