My daughter, Payton, is our dog lover. Her interest in studying dog breeds came from reading the The Puppy Place Series by Ellen Miles.

For her 9th birthday party, she wanted a puppy adoption themed party.  I'm excited to share the details of this fun celebration we had.

The dog shaped cake and dog bowl (filled with Cocoa Puffs) were chocolate cakes. I made dog face cupcakes in a variety of dog breeds.

The paw print cookies are sugar cookies with a Hershey's Drop in the middle and 4 chocolate chips to make the paw.

Take a Treat for Your Dog

For our guests that have dogs at home, they took a bag of Milk Bone treats home for their dog.  I packaged the dog bones in a Bakery Bag with Window.

Once her friends arrived, we had several activities and crafts.  We started with playing fetch, making a dog bed, dog collar and dog bones from clay.

DIY Dog Bed for Stuffed Animals

The dog beds were made from letter trays found at the Dollar Tree.  The girls cut a piece of fabric for the bedding and decorated wooden paw prints to label their beds.

DIY Dog Collars for Stuffed Animals

We used paracord to make dog collars, complete with a metal stamped name plate.

To make the personalized metal name plates, we used the Alphabet and Number Stamp Kit to hammer the letters into the metal dog tags. You just hold the stamp on top of the dog tag and hammer the stamp.

Lining up the letters can be a little tricky.  You can use a piece of masking tape to give yourself a straight line to guide the letter placement.

The letters were easy enough to hammer into the dog tags – the girls enjoyed doing this part on their own.

Puppy Party Games and Activities

The girls had fun playing all night with their new dogs. We enjoyed a movie night, watching Rescue Dogs Movie.

Cups and Dog Bowls were personalized with vinyl.  I found the cups at Dollar Tree and the bowls at IKEA.  Dog Party Movie Night Personalized

  1. How exactly did you make the collars and beds?

    Reply
    • For the collars, we did a paracord bracelet but made them longer to fit around the dogs’ necks. You can find tutorials for different techniques on YouTube or Pinterest. For the beds, the girls just cut fabric to make blankets and put them in the bin (found at Dollar Tree).
