Today I helped out in my mom's classroom to create a “First Day of Kindergarten” photo booth. During Meet the Teacher Night, the parents will have a fun spot to capture a photo of their kindergartner in their new classroom.
We used green butcher paper for the backdrop (2 sheets wide), yellow paper for the pencil (creased to give it a 3D look), and die cut letters.
Here's my soon-to-be-kindergartner posing for us….
Thank you for the idea. Will try to make one for my own class.
Love the idea! Also where did you get your classroom rug? I’ve been looking for one with the sectioned squares. Thanks
She purchased the rug here: http://www.rtrkidsrugs.com/A-to-Z-Animals-Kids-Rug-p/cfk55xx.htm?1=1&CartID=0
Hope you have a great year!
I got one from eBay for $50
I love it! Thank you for the idea and thank you for sharing!!
Could you tell me where or how to get the die cutter letters (or the name of the font) that you used? We have a die cut machine in our library, but not that style. Love your ideal!
Thanks!
I cut them on my vinyl cutter (similar to a Silhouette). I don’t remember which font off hand. I bet it would still be cute with the die cut letters from your school. Hope you have a great year!
I’m going to do this for open house night, so cute!
I’m so glad you liked this idea! If you post to instagram, I’d love to see your version! Use #pigskinsandpigtails.
Did you use the same size letters for the name on the pencil as you did for the title? Is the pencil about 4 feet tall?
I think the pencil name was a little smaller than the title. I don’t remember the exact measurements. Just make sure that the pencil and title aren’t too high when the students sit on the stool!
Oh my goodness, this is beautiful, what kind of paper did you use for the background?
I am so gonna use this…
Thank you
I used the colored butcher paper from the school. I taped 2 pieces together to make the width larger.
How did you make the pencil?
I cut the pieces out of butcher paper and folded the yellow to give the pencil a 3D look.
Thank you! It looks great!! I will be trying it this year!
we are going to do this with our Fabulous 4th graders…
Awesome! Would love to see your version. If you post to Instagram, tag me with #pigskinsandpigtails or @pigskinsandpigtails
Love this idea! Very colorful.
Love this! That would make a great green screen background too!
