Today I helped out in my mom's classroom to create a “First Day of Kindergarten” photo booth. During Meet the Teacher Night, the parents will have a fun spot to capture a photo of their kindergartner in their new classroom.

We used green butcher paper for the backdrop (2 sheets wide), yellow paper for the pencil (creased to give it a 3D look), and die cut letters.

Here's my soon-to-be-kindergartner posing for us….

  4. Could you tell me where or how to get the die cutter letters (or the name of the font) that you used? We have a die cut machine in our library, but not that style. Love your ideal!
    Thanks!

    • I cut them on my vinyl cutter (similar to a Silhouette). I don’t remember which font off hand. I bet it would still be cute with the die cut letters from your school. Hope you have a great year!

  6. Did you use the same size letters for the name on the pencil as you did for the title? Is the pencil about 4 feet tall?

    • I think the pencil name was a little smaller than the title. I don’t remember the exact measurements. Just make sure that the pencil and title aren’t too high when the students sit on the stool!

    • I used the colored butcher paper from the school. I taped 2 pieces together to make the width larger.

  8. How did you make the pencil?

    Reply
    • I cut the pieces out of butcher paper and folded the yellow to give the pencil a 3D look.
