Our little six year old requested a mermaid themed birthday party this year. Here's a look at the details of her special under the sea party:

Sand Art Activity: This was a huge hit. The kids loved making their own sand bottles.
The plastic divided trays are from the Dollar Tree. The other supplies can be found on Amazon:
We ended the party with a treasure hunt to find their party favors.

Where did you buy the plastic containers that the sand is sitting in? It looks like 1 piece with several dishes? I want this instead of using shoe plastic containers. Would love to hear back from you. Thanks
Lauren
I found them at the Dollar Tree in Texas. They were a $1 each. Hope you have a store near you!
Everything looks like so much fun! Where did you get the sand art bottles and sand?
Thanks, Lisa. I got the bottles and the sand from Hobby Lobby. The sand art was a big hit!
I loved your Mermaid ideas. I have found some wonderful sand and bottles at coloredsand.com
tons of fun shapes. My 8 year old does Sand Art at her party every year.
Where did you get your mini funnels from? Love this idea!!!
Thanks! Mini funnels, containers and sand were all from Hobby Lobby.
Hi I love this idea! I’m thinking of something similar for my daughter’s party. How much sand did you buy? Thanks for the pictures!
Hi Kristen,
I believe I purchased the bulk package from Hobby Lobby (http://www.hobbylobby.com/Crafts-Hobbies/Kids-Crafts-Activities/Crafts/Sand-Value-Pack/p/25302). I can’t remember if I bought 1 or 2 of these. The sand went a lot further than I expected! Hope you have fun creating your party!
Hi, Your party planning is fantastic! I’ve been asked to bake a mermaid birthday cake for a 4 year old’s party. Can you tell me a little bit about how you make the cake? did you buy a Barbie doll and remove the lower half?? Is the bottom part made of fondant?
thanks for your advice!
Ginny
Hi Ginny,
Thank you! The doll I purchased had a removable fin. I took that off and pushed the rest of the tail into the cake. I did cover the cake in fondant and replicated the tail in fondant to drape on top of the cake so it looks like she is sitting. Happy Baking!
Hi! Where did you find the image for the pin the fin on the mermaid game? Thank you so much! Such a cute party!
