Back to school means back to a routine… and eating at home.
I dread grocery shopping each week. Pulling out the cookbooks, planning the meals, making the list… it was such a chore. So, I created this weekly menu board system with a magnetic board from IKEA and some vinyl.
I wrote all of our recipes on index cards. One side has the name. The other side lists all of the ingredients needed at the grocery store for that meal. Each week, I pick out meals and sides from the index cards. Then, I flip them over and add the ingredients to my list.
Then, we display our meals on the pantry door.
I think this is kinda genious. I’ve never thought of doing things this way before. And if you come up with a new recipe, its not hard to make a new card. LOVE! Thanks for linking at Once Upon a Weekend!
Wow – this is such a great idea. I write mine out on a white board each week, but this looks so much nicer. I wish we had an IKEA!
This is genius! Love it, and will be copying it. Putting the recipe on the card will help me out SO much! Thanks for sharing this awesome idea with us and our readers! We love it when you come and party with us, see you again soon 😉

Umm, GENIUS! I love love love this idea and am stealing it for our own kitchen! That board is awesome, by the way. Time to go looking for my own nifty menu board. 🙂

I love this. How cute!
Amazing idea! I’ve been trying to meal plan for my family but keep hitting a wall. This is brilliant!
I love this idea! Could you give me the measurements? I have a magnetic board from ikea but I can’t tell if it is the same size or not. Thanks!
The magnet board I used from IKEA is 7″ wide x 30.5″ tall. I cut the index card in half and they fit perfectly in the space. Good luck!
this menu would go perfect in my kitchen! and it would make my life easier. thanks for posting. I think I will try something like it.

What did you use to mount the magnet board to your door? Wish I could buy this with the vinyl on it and magnets ready to go!
I believe it came with some sort of adhesive strips. It’s been a while so i don’t remember! I am pretty sure I didn’t drill anything into the door though. I do offer the vinyl decals. You would just need to purchase the magnet board at Ikea. Applying the decal is super easy! Contact me if you are interested in the decal and I’ll send you a link to buy it.
