Weekly Menu Planning

Posted by jennifer | On: Aug 28 2011

Back to school means back to a routine… and eating at home.

I dread grocery shopping each week.  Pulling out the cookbooks, planning the meals, making the list… it was such a chore.  So, I created this weekly menu board system with a magnetic board from IKEA and some vinyl.

I wrote all of our recipes on index cards.  One side has the name.  The other side lists all of the ingredients needed at the grocery store for that meal.  Each week, I pick out meals and sides from the index cards.  Then, I flip them over and add the ingredients to my list.

Then, we display our meals on the pantry door.

That is so awesome! I need to do this when I can narrow down my recipes. I have so many to try right now. I’d kill so many trees doing those cards. LOL. I love your red board!!

I love it. I especially like listing all of the different meals and then putting the ingredients on the back. That’s awesome.

Umm, GENIUS! I love love love this idea and am stealing it for our own kitchen! That board is awesome, by the way. Time to go looking for my own nifty menu board. :)

Thanks for sharing with So Sweet Sundays!

The magnet board I used from IKEA is 7″ wide x 30.5″ tall. I cut the index card in half and they fit perfectly in the space. Good luck!
